Do You Use Wikipedia?

Like many of the others, I often will look in Wikipedia but I am hesitant to trust what I read due to their information gathering process. If it is for something I really need to know about, I go elsewhere.

I generally go to Wikipedia first or second when I'm looking for something I don't know much about. Of course, that could be because it always seems to be first in the Google results. But I always look beyond the Wikipedia content for verfication.
I love Wikipedia! Anytime a topic comes up in discussion that I'm a a little fuzzy on, I just wiki it, and then find myself clicking additional links on relating topics. It's been quite reliable in my experience thus far.

Personally, no! Too many revisionist writings and mistakes in so-called facts.

Surprisingly more and more so. I'm somewhat leery of the information and still want to check other sources. But I have been impressed with the references and resources listed, so I think it has improved over the last couple of years.

yup, love it, think it's great for finding odd facts on obscure subjects—or for taking a first run at a subject
Although some of the "factual" material in wiki is questionable, I like that you can get a sense of somethings cultural importance, rather just an dictionary explanation of it. For instance, if you look up G-string, they discuss the Thong Song by Sisqo. Cool.

Wikipedia was an invaluable source for me when I needed details finishing my latest book manuscript. Sure, I had to triple check the source of the content (since Wikipedia is updated by users and checked by staff...read the story last summer in the New Yorker), but I sometimes think that I couldn't have finished my book without it.
